Cafe 37 in Ridgewood

This place consistently delivers. Great specials, but even the main menu offers delicious entrees and will satisfy all tastes. A friendly, professional staff makes for a pleasant evening. BYOB is the icing on the cake!

Food is delicious but portions are very small. I had the salmon. The piece that I got was very small but it was accompanied by alot of vegetables. My husband had the filet mignon which was 8 ounces. The scallop appetizer was only 3 pieces. The bottom line is that you have to order an appetizer, a salad and an entree to feel satisfied. I also didn't like how close together the tables are.

Update of June 2018, still very very good food, excellent service. (OLD REVIEW) We were five in the party and every dish was excellent. There's clearly a very good chef in the kitchen. Great place for very good food. Portions are not for the starved.

Such good food and good ambience, we ate there many times and the level stays high.Our “trick” is to come during weekdays (weekends are packed) and order the prefix menu, great value ...Highly recommend.

Went here for a baby shower and had the best time! Food was amazing and the space for the party was perfect! Will definitely be going back again.

The food here is just so good. Most recently, special branzino entree was mouth-watering good. Cesar is on top of his game and his staff is stellar (shout out to Felix). Highly recommended.

I love this restaurant! They have awesome food, their menu is nice, The chief cook in that spot is a professional, I like very much tasting all their dishes. The dishes are always fresh and tasty, the attitude towards the guests is efficient. I often go to this place and I was never unsatisfied. I recommend it with no hesitation.

Incredible. My family has eaten here twice and we will most certainly return. The staff and chef are incredibly attentive and warm, the atmosphere has a relaxed elegance, and the food presentation is a true work of art. Greetings of the day. I write with a satisfied stomach. Excellent service, i requested for filet mignon medium and it came perfect with a nice side of mash potatoes and some vegies and a fried tappioca. They also served me amush bush. Be ready to shell MONEY there it aint cheap but it is worth it. They also serve table d' hote' i belive. They do not serve alcohol you need to bring your own. And yes the chocolate cake with mascaporne cheese looks and taste really good.

Outstanding food and service by Chef Sotomayer and our server Felix, who handled two well aged special wines, one 20 years old and the other 30 years old, truly professionally with perfectly executed decanting.

Cafe 37 was amazing. Food was fresh and plated to perfection. Felix was incredibly accommodating. I was with a group of 19 for a birthday/anniversary party. My wife set up the dinner with Felix and I was very impressed. The timing was great the food just amazing. Compliment to the chef for an incredible dinner. We did a pre fixe 4 course dinner. I loved it all salmon great the filet mignon great. Everyone in our group was very impressed. Keep up the great work.

Great food and service.

Awesome food, service and outdoor dining. They made it really nice between buildings with tents, ferns, and lights. Hope they keep.it after we return to normal.

The quality of food is high but the restaurant is over priced and the service was unprofessional. My companion asked to substitute the mushrooms in a chicken entree ($27) and was told that she can only do it if she pays an extra charge. I got up and asked the manager upfront about it and her response was "Yes, that is how it is!". I never heard of an upscale restaurant charging for a vegetable substitute especially since my friend is allergic to mushrooms.The entrees were beautifully presented, the cheesecake was ordinary and at these prices, I would rather dine in the city. The place was full, very noisy and the food took a long time to arrive.

Ambiance and decor are nothing special, but food and service are excellent. Prix fixe menu is a great deal with four courses. Highly recommended.

Exquisite meal from top to bottom.

I had the special, Buillbase and it was flavorless and sandy. Husband had a steak that was not not seasoned, could have eaten at home for much less. Service wasn't to good, asked for a glass of water 3 times. Will not return. Ridgewood has good restaurants, they need to stop up their game.

Food was very good, portions are a bit small. We were a larger party but service was slow.

Very good food and service. Only negative was they insisted charging s $12 sharing charge for my 11 year old daughter. I think this should only apply to adults.

This is my favorite restaurant in Ridgewood. The food, the ambience and the wonderful servers make for a really enjoyable evening.

Rather ordinary fare, attractive setting particularly with the outdoor seating. One can do better on the same street.

Our meals were outstanding! Everything was so fresh and delicious, and the attention to detail is superb. We enjoyed the crab cake special, the lobster roll, and the salmon entree. All were exceptional, with the freshest ingredients and wonderful sauces. The accompanying sides were not afterthoughts; they were impressive as well. The zucchini was perfectly cooked, the Asian slaw and potato tart were phenomenal. The service was also great, making you feel welcome. Can't say enough good things!

We had our office dinner at Cafe 37 last night, and I can’t say enough great things about it! The staff was incredible... very attentive, personable and very professional. The prix fixe menu had so many great options to choose from and each dish was presented beautifully. And the food was so delicious and fresh! We will definitely be back!

Welcoming and accommodating staff! We had to change the time on our reservation on the day off. Staff was very accommodating and we got in at the time we asked for. Nice atmosphere, but here was a persistent odor ... smell of an old building .. of a space that is not aerated enough... Tuna tartare was good but not impressive, risotto with truffle and wild mushrooms- the rice was more like a jasmine rice and definitely not arborio. I would not order it again. Scallops had not been washed, the salmon was great , nice side to it. The overall experience was unimpressive!

My wife and I have been going here since it opened. Never have we been disappointed in the food or the service. We always lean towards the specials knowing the chef has been able to put something unique together based on the ingredients he found available at the local market. As a BYOB the meal is reasonable for the prices when you get the bill. The venue is small with relatively limited seating, so plan ahead and call for available times. Or go early and then do a movie, or do the movie first and have a late meal. This place will not disappoint.
